Grubhub Robot Collides With UL Lafayette Van in Viral TikTok
Students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette witnessed an unusual campus accident this week when one of those Grubhub delivery robots collided with a university van. The incident was captured on TikTok by user @im_bored.inc, quickly racking up over 20,000 views on one clip and nearly 10,000 on a slowed-down version.
In the video, the small rolling robot attempts to cross the street when a UL van makes a turn and runs over it. Off-camera, someone can be heard saying, “I just witnessed a murder.”
TikTok Reacts
The comment section lit up with reactions from students and viewers alike. One user joked, “There goes my Chick-fil-A,” while another added, “THE UL VEHICLES ARE ALWAYS RUNNING PEOPLE OVER.”

Others found humor in the fact that it wasn’t just any van, but a university-owned vehicle: “The fact that it’s a ULL campus faculty truck makes it even funnier.”
One student summed it up best: “I think that was my food… because it took a minute to get here.”
The Bigger Picture
While the video is sparking laughs, it also highlights the challenges that come with adding robots to real-world traffic. From self-checkouts to autonomous delivery services, technology is still learning to share space with humans—and in this case, campus vans.
For now, Ragin’ Cajuns are hoping this was just a one-off mishap. As one commenter said, “Someone go help that baby.”
We’ll join them in wishing the Grubhub bot a speedy recovery.
