HEALTH ALERT: Animal Cookies Recalled

There has been a recall of animal cookies sold at a major retailer.

The recall was issued, voluntarily, by the D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Company, the parent company of the cookies in question.

The reason for the recall: the product may contain foreign particles.

According to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Company, Inc., is recalling its animal cookie product because it may contain metal.

The cookies, sold under the brand name Market Pantry, are being taken from shelves after some samples were found to contain pieces of metal wire.

The Market Pantry White Fudge Animal Cookies affected by this recall were distributed to and sold by Target stores around the country. The 44-ounce clear plastic containers, shaped like a bear, have the "best by" date of 21FEB2023 printed on them.

The "Lot Number" for the recalled cookies is Y052722, and the time stamp printed on the label would be in the 15:00 to 23:00 range.

If you are like me, once a package of cookies is open, there's no stopping until they are all gone. If you are a person with some self-control, though, the FDA has a suggestion for you.

If you find yourself to be in possession of any cookies that fall under the parameters listed above, you are advised to stop eating them immediately and bring any remaining cookies back to the store for a full refund.
