Humane Society Reports That Horse Died While in New Orleans Funeral Procession

Some sad news out of New Orleans.

Jeff Dorson, who is with the Humane Society of Louisiana, reports that a horse has died while in a New Orleans funeral procession.

Dorson speculates that the horse may have died as a result of heat exhaustion.

While in a funeral procession, the horse reportedly collapsed, and died on Esplanade Ave in New Orleans.

WVUE reports that an autopsy will determine the official cause of death of the horse. Like much in the deep south over the weekend, New Orleans experienced extreme temperatures Saturday as temperatures rose into the mid-90s.
