Iberia Parish Victim Succumbs to Injuries in Apparent Murder-Suicide Case

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department has released a statement concerning two people who have died within the parish.

According to a social media post on Thursday morning (May 30, 2024), "Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 6000 block of Coteau Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 49-year-old female with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene."

Deputies started their investigation into the murder and it led them to a nearby field where they discovered the body of her 50-year-old husband.

He died of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While the investigation into these two deaths is still ongoing, the Sheriff's Department says, "This case appears to be a domestic-related incident."

The agency did not release the names of those who died in this case, but we will continue to follow this unfortunate story out of Iberia Parish.
