Severe thunderstorms swept across the state of Louisiana on Wednesday and now we are beginning to see the amount of damage left behind.

We've seen power poles snapped, roofs on homes torn off the structure, trees down on across roads, and now a tree on top of a car.

KADN News 15 reports that four people were injured in Opelousas, Louisiana after a tree fell on the vehicle that they occupied.

One person in the car was critically injured and flown to a hospital in Baton Rouge.

The unfortunate incident happened at the Yambille Building in Opelousas as storms pounded the area on Wednesday morning. While there hasn't been any confirmation of tornadoes in the area, the National Weather Service will have teams across Acadiana to determine if the damage done was a result of tornadoes.

If you were by a radio Wednesday morning, you probably heard many of the warnings come across the airwaves and some were tornado warnings, which meant that local radars detected rotation(s) in a defined area.
