Thousands of Louisiana travelers will be boarding cruise ships in the coming months. Our state has one major port that serves several of the cruise lines. Of course, that port is New Orleans and tens of thousands of cruise guests visit the Big Easy every year as part of their onboard itinerary.

If you've never been on a cruise ship, I think it's an experience everyone should have. You don't have to take a long cruise to get a quick snapshot of whether the cruise lifestyle is for you. I like to think of a cruise ship as an all-inclusive resort that moves. I don't mind the smaller accommodations compared to a regular hotel room. And I find that activities onboard the ship are about as interesting as activities at a land-based resort.
