Through the years more and more Louisiana travelers have gotten comfortable with the idea of sleeping with strangers. No, I don't mean as in a post-Mardi Gras bender filled with headaches and regret the next day. I am referring to staying with strangers via the popular travel site Airbnb.

The Airbnb concept of today is very similar to the way travelers back in the days of old had to seek out lodging while on their perilous journeys across Louisiana and the nation. Back then, a traveler might stop at a roadhouse for a bite to eat and then rent a room or hay-filled stall in the barn to rest up for the next day's trek.

That's basically what Airbnb is today except you pre-book online. And, because you have the internet you can actually see the place you'll be staying and you'll know what amenities are located nearby. For some travelers, this type of lodging feels more comfortable than staying in a hotel.
