Parc De Oaks, Lafayette's first dedicated food truck lot on Moss Street on the north side, is gearing up to enhance the community's access to fresh food and healthy living options. With a planned launch in Spring 2024, the park will introduce a Farmer’s Market Pavilion and more amazing amenities.

The park's owners, Christopher and Andrea Amos, unveiled the project's details through a Facebook announcement and subsequent coverage by our media partners at KATC. The pavilion, developed in partnership with Petitjean Architecture, is set to offer a range of amenities, including:

  • A covered area for local farmers, featuring booths for four or five vendors.
  • Three ADA-compliant restrooms, with two designated for public use and one for employees.
  • Two walk-up beverage stations serving fresh juices and lemonade.
  • A water fountain station specifically for pets.

Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Christopher Amos remarked, "Well, we're hoping to bring some healthier options to people. People have been asking about that since we've opened up." He acknowledged the north side of Lafayette as a 'food desert', where affordable fresh food is scarce. This pavilion aims to address that by offering local farmers a platform to sell their produce.

The market is initially scheduled to operate on Saturdays, with the possibility of extending to Sundays based on public demand. Andrea Amos envisions the pavilion as a community hub, stating, "They've been asking for us to have some type of fresh produce farmers market on the weekends, so we'll be able to do that and maybe throw in some craft vendors, as well."

Beyond serving as a marketplace, the Amoses intend to leverage the pavilion for broader community engagement. Future plans include hosting community and private events.
