A former LSU football player, Greg Brooks, has filed a lawsuit against LSU and its medical team after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

If you recall, Greg Brooks was diagnosed with brain cancer last year after playing in two football games, and now he is suing those who he says ignored his symptoms.

In a lawsuit, the former LSU player accused the coaches of forcing him to practice and threatening him to lose his starting positions while he said he showed signs of something wrong with him.

In addition to that, "He levies claims against team trainers for not appropriately diagnosing his condition and refusing, for weeks, to recommend him to a neurological specialist."

The accusations continue as Brooks is also suing the doctor who performed the surgery, Brandon Gaynor, after Brooks says he was left with “catastrophic neurological injuries” and is “permanently disabled” after the procedure.

Brooks' family filed the malpractice lawsuit after he allegedly suffered several strokes after the dangerous surgery on his brain, which left him unable to walk. Brooks and his family claim in the lawsuit that he is in the condition he's in now because of malpractice procedures during the surgery.

Yahoo Sports released these statements from Our Lady of The Lake and LSU after the lawsuit was filed:

“First, and foremost, our prayers remain with Greg for his continued healing and recovery. Due to patient privacy laws and pending litigation, we can’t comment on specific individuals or situations,” a statement from the hospital said. “The neurosurgical team at Our Lady of the Lake is among the most experienced in Louisiana and they give our patients the best opportunity for a positive outcome in any circumstance. Providing excellent healthcare to those we serve is our top priority.”

The school wrote, "While LSU cannot comment on ongoing litigation, Greg Brooks remains in our thoughts and prayers as he continues to work through the rehabilitation process. Since the beginning of our agreement with our Championship Health Partner, Our Lady of the Lake, they have provided exceptional medical care for our student-athletes in all of our sports.”

According to the report from Yahoo Sports, the cancer on Brooks' brain was a "pediatric cancer," which can show up in adults. Brooks was taken to St. Jude for additional procedures and rehab.

A hearing on this case is scheduled for February 10 and Brooks' legal team has requested a subpoena for LSU, its board of supervisors, and the Louisiana office of the commissioner of the administration.
