Kelly Rowland Leaves Record Label, Gives Details on Fifth Album

Kelly Rowland is embracing a "fresh, new spin" on life. The singer announces that she's parted ways with Republic Records and is working on her fifth studio album -- the follow-up to 2013's 'Talk a Good Game.'

She hit the studio last week to begin recording the effort, which she's taking in a different musical direction compared to her previous efforts. "Creativity is just an amazing, amazing tool I'm able to use every day," she tells HuffPost Live. "I'm thinking different horns, certain drums, these flutes that I heard, I know it sounds crazy. I've been inspired by the queens that have gone before us, incredibly strong women who aren’t afraid to take risks and just be innovative."

Diana Ross is one of those women who has inspired the 33-year-old songstress, who recently got engaged.

As for her split with her record label, Rowland was ready for a change. “I feel like right now, I just needed something new and I’ve earned the right to make my own choices and make my own decisions,” she shares. “I wish them well, they wish me well. No hard feelings, I just needed a fresh, new start.”

Rowland, the face of the Caress Fabulista campaign, is looking at "different offers on the table," but at the moment, she's enjoying being "creatively free" and is in no rush to sign with another label.

While acting is on the horizon for her -- she has her sights set on a role in an action movie, a romantic comedy or drama-- music is always at the center of her career. One artist the Atlanta native still has on her wishlist to collaborate with: Andre 3000. Plus, she has plans for a "bigger and better tour" once the new album arrives.
