On Wednesday, August, 31, 2001, at 6pm, Lafayette welcomes home their Boys of Summer, after representing our city, state and country at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

According to Oren Smith, President of Lafayette Little League, “We are so proud of our players, coaches and fans, and we want to let them know how much we appreciate their accomplishments.

The All Star team reached the World Series after winning their District, State and Regional titles in dramatic fashion. They went on to play in five nationally televised games on ESPN. Their biggest win in the series came against powerhouse Warner Robbins Georgia. While they did not reach the finals, they impressed the fans every step of the way. They return home ranked as one of the top 16 teams in the world, and one of the top 8 in the country.

The event to welcome them home will be held at Lafayette Little League Park in Broadmoor Subdivision. Concessions will be available, along with a presentation of the team, commemorative posters, and an opportunity to meet the players and coaches.

Here's one of the hits that got them to the LLWS.
