The Lafayette Police Department and Lafayette Crime Stoppers are searching for a woman who allegedly stole someone's identity and has been using it to open accounts in various stores around town.

According to Lafayette Police, they received a complaint from the AT&T store located in Lafayette at 2429 West Congress Street on April 15th. She used the victim's identity to open an account at the store. Following that, the suspect then proceeded to make several other unauthorized transactions at other stores.

The suspect made purchases at Home Depot in Lafayette, 3721 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, as well as Best Buy, 5627 Johnston Street. Lafayette Police say in total the value of theft is close to $7,000.

Authorities are asking for help identifying the individual and to please call Lafayette Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS (8477). All callers remain anonymous.
