The Walk-On’s location in Broussard has officially closed, according to reports, leaving a full staff of employees blindsided and out of work. According to Chris Reed at 99.9 KTDY, workers found out about the shutdown through an email, which left them frustrated and abruptly out of work.

But in true Acadiana fashion, the local community wasted no time stepping in to help.

One of the first businesses to step up was The Cajun Table, a Lafayette restaurant located on Ambassador Caffery known for its authentic Cajun food. In a matter of hours, their Facebook post inviting former Walk-On’s employees to apply for jobs had been shared over 300 times.

“Former Walk-Ons Broussard employees, we’d love to hire you! We need help in ALL areas!” The post read, and the response was almost instant. People were tagging friends, asking how to apply, and even pointing out that this is what community support in Lafayette looks like.

Kyle Cannella was one of the first to notice the overwhelming response. “This is how local businesses help the community! I ❤️ this post,” he commented. Others echoed the same exact feeling, with one person saying, “Y’all just earned a customer because of this post!!”

The sudden closure of Walk-On’s left many looking for answers, but no official reason has been given. What is clear, though, is that our local Acadiana businesses and residents will always reach out to at least try to help our own.

For those looking for work, The Cajun Table is welcoming applications, proving that when one door closes, another one really can open—sometimes faster than you’d expect and with way better seasoning.
