According to the Louisiana Treasury, they have over $700 million in unclaimed property. This money includes everything from old savings and CDs to checking accounts and payroll checks.
The state is hosting an Unclaimed Property Awareness Day Saturday, July 16 at the Lakeside Mall in Metairie. Event is to help make the public aware that they may be owed money.
State Treasurer John Kennedy says that stopping by to put your name in their database could result in a payoff.
