Louisiana Softball Hall of Fame Announcement Tabs Lotiefs, Girouard, Habetz
ASA/USA Softball of Louisiana has announced its 2016 Softball Hall of Fame Class, and it most definitely has a Ragin' Cajun flair.
Michael and Stefni Lotief, who served as co-head coaches before Michael took over the program are among the inductees.
So is Yvette Girouard, the only other coach the Ragin' Cajuns have ever had, before continuing her successful career at LSU.
And, Alabama assistant softball coach Alyson Habetz, a mainstay at first base for the Cajuns in the early 90's before helping to lead the Crimson Tide to a national championship, is on the list as well.
The Lotiefs, individually and collectively, have led the Cajuns to 14 seasons of at least 40 wins, 14 NCAA Regionals, seven NCAA Regionals and three trips to the Women's College World Series.
Girouard, who founded the then USL program, also made three trips to the Women's College World Series while mentoring the Cajuns' program. She led the Lady Cajuns, as they were known at the time, to the schools highest-ever ranking, #2 in 1994.
Habetz played for Girouard from 1991-94 and was part of the Cajuns' squad that made the school's first-ever trip to Oklahoma City in 1993.
