After winning 601 games in 12 seasons, Stefni Lotief is finally stepping down as co-head coach for the Lady Cajuns softball program.  Through the years of sacrifice at UL, she has come to realize that she has missed a lot of time with those closest to her.

Michael Lotief, who is the husband of Stefni Lotief and the co-head coach for UL-Lafayette softball, will be taking over immediately and start the search for a full-time assistant.  Coaching a college team can take a lot from someone's personal life and according to the ragincajuns website, Stefni would like to spend more time with her family.

After much thought and prayer and after weighing what is in the best interest of my family and just coming to terms with where I am in this stage of my life,  I have decided to take a step back from coaching in order to spend more time with my children."

Although she is leaving softball, Stefni Lotief will stay in the education system since she has accepted a position at Ascension Episcopal School in Youngsville.

As for UL, she believes the team won't suffer because the program has always been strong and the staff  is one of the best.

I know in my heart that this softball program is in great shape and good hands.”

Although we hate to see Stefni Lotief leave, we wish her the best in her new career and family life.
