The Lafayette High Symphonic Winds and Percussion Ensemble was headed to Indianapolis, Indiana for the 2020 Music for All National Concert Band Festival and Feldstein National Percussion Festival.

According to Allison Dickerson, LPSS Public Information Officer, a major factor in the decision to cancel the trip was the fact that a school in the Indianapolis area was closed due to potential coronavirus "cases and concerns".

In a nutshell, the decision to cancel was made in consideration of the "health and safety" of the students.

It has been arranged for the Lafayette High School Band to showcase its students with a concert this Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Heymann Center. The concert will feature their national program and will begin with the Percussion Ensemble at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Symphonic Winds. The concert is free for anyone who would like to attend.
