Mayor-President Guillory Says A New Performance Arts Center Is Key To Any Deal For Heymann
The Lafayette Consolidate Government issued a press release today detailing Mayor President Josh Guillory's prioritization for a new performance arts center that would be no additional burden on taxpayers. This is a key aspect to any deal that is made regarding the Heymann Performing Arts Center, according to Guillory.
The Heymann Performing Arts Center acts as host to a variety of events and groups around the Lafayette area. Those groups and events include Mardi Gras Krewes, dance, performing arts communities, and much more according to the press release.
Guillory says in the release, "In my view, any possible agreement would have to include a plan for building a new performing arts center for our city that creates no additional burden on taxpayers and includes mechanisms to operate without a General Fund subsidy".
Guillory also hopes that this facility would meet the needs of Lafayette Parish schools as well as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
