This will no longer be the state flag of Mississippi.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves signed a bill that retires their last state flag, which included the Confederate emblem.

Many in recent days noted that the state flag still had the confederate image on it, thus according to some promoting racism.

A new flag will be designed by a commission and the new state flag will include the words "In God We Trust" on it.

For now, the state of Mississippi will not have an official flag until a new design is complete and that design will go before voters for approval.

The old state flag for Mississippi has been in use since 1894.
