A Moss Street business was heavily damage by fire just before midnight last night.

Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says that some people driving by 1204 Moss Street called in the fire at Charlie's Seafood Restaurant.

While trying to tackle the fire it became obvious for the firefighters that this was a two alarm fire.

More firefirghters then went to the scene to fine the fire trapped between the original roof and the current metal roof.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control.

The whole restaurant was heavily damaged by the blaze.

Fire officials know that the fire started in a food prep room, but the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
