Parade Barricades Going Up in Lafayette Today

If you live and work in Lafayette you are familiar with the installation of parade barricades along the city's streets. Of course, the biggest installation of barricades will come in about a month's time as Acadiana prepares for Mardi Gras. But, if you weren't aware we actually have a parade in town on Sunday.

That parade is the annual Martin Luther King holiday parade. The parade is set to roll Sunday at three. The route begins on Cora Street. It will then turn down Martin Luther King Memorial Parkway to the Clifton Chenier Center.

Barricades along the parade will be installed beginning this morning (Friday 01/17). Motorists who use Willow should be advised of crews working in the area. You should also expect slowdowns along the parade route once the barricades are in place.

According to a story on KATC's website, the parade is just one of many activities planned around the area to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King.
