Comedian, radio personality and actor Patrice O’Neal passed away at the age of 41 on Monday night. He suffered a stroke in October and never returned to good health.

The news was confirmed for fans when Gregg Hughes, the ‘Opie’ of Opie & Anthony, tweeted this afternoon,

Yes it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker i’ve ever known PERIOD. #devastated.

O’Neal was known for his work as a stand-up comedian and as a radio personality on ‘The Opie & Anthony Show.’ He also made appearances in films such as ‘25th Hour,’ ‘Scary Movie 4’ and ‘Furry Vengeance.’ On television, he showed up on ‘Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn,’ ‘Chappelle’s Show’ and ‘The Office.’
