It's officially over between Paula Patton and Robin Thicke.

TMZ has learned that Patton officially filed for divorce today, Oct. 8, almost eight months after it was announced that they had split as husband and wife. In the papers, Patton cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce.

The site has also learned that Patton is requesting joint and physical custody of their 4-year-old son, Julian.

Patton's divorce filing comes after months of Thicke publicly trying to win Patton back. Almost immediately after the split was announced in February, Thicke made his intentions clear during media interviews. He wrote a series of songs about his breakup, including 'Get Her Back,' which he performed at the Billboard Music Awards. And in a not-so-subtle move, he dedicated his newest album to Patton by naming it 'Paula.'

In mid-July though, it appeared as if Thicke had finally given up, as the couple put their shared home up for sale.
