Carencro’s Cutest Storm Survivor — A Pig With a Pumpkin Problem
In typical Louisiana fashion, a severe storm left parts of South Louisiana flooded, and schools closed on Wednesday, but it also delivered something nobody had on their 2024 bingo card—a wandering pig with a love for pumpkins.
As the rain cleared and floodwaters receded, Carencro resident Brent Leger captured the viral moment on camera: a cheerful, tail-wagging pig chomping away on someone’s leftover pumpkin in someone's driveway.
Leger’s video quickly went viral, not only for the unexpected sight of a pig roaming the streets but for the pig’s undeniable charm. “There’s a cute pig with a very waggy tail eating a pumpkin,” he commented, clearly as amused as the hundreds of people who flocked to share their thoughts on the hilarious sight.
Facebook users couldn’t get enough of the scene. Ashlyn Fortier summed up the sentiment perfectly with, "Omg I want him ." Another commenter, Taylor Doucet, chimed in with a familiar Louisiana dilemma: “He looks so friendly.. my problem is that I’d bring him home.” Meanwhile, Keisha Guy captured the surprise everyone was feeling: “I did not have a pig on the loose at 3:30 on my forecast for today .”
This wasn’t even the first pig sighting in the area recently. “Ok this is the 3rd pig sighting in 2 weeks,” laughed Leigh Bunches McGuinty. “WHAT is going on with these piggies??” Carencro might just be becoming a hotspot for runaway pigs—or maybe it’s the leftover Halloween pumpkins that are luring them in.
Leger hopes the pig finds its way back home. “He was very happy,” he said. “Just slowly moseying thru the neighborhood.” And if nothing else, the little guy brought a smile (and a laugh) to everyone’s faces—proving that sometimes the best thing to come out of a storm is an adorable, snack-happy pig with a lot of personality.
One question remains: Is anyone in Carencro, Louisiana, missing a pig? We hope this story finds this adorable little pig's family.
