President Obama Called Random Moms on Mother’s Day
The commander in chief reached out to a very specific set of constituents over the weekend.
President Obama called a bunch of mothers who'd recently written him so he could pass on happy Mother's Day wishes.
Obama, whose mother died in 1995, may have summed it up best in one call:
I know how tough it is to raise kids and do right by them, and if it hadn't been for my mother, I certainly wouldn't be here. You are doing the most important work there is."
A lot of the women didn't appear to believe the actual president was on the line with them, but being a politician, he worked hard to earn their trust. You can't really blame the women, either, for thinking it was some sort of trick. We live in the Jimmy Kimmel age, where we just automatically assume someone is trying to pull a fast one on us.
Way to go, Jimmy. We bet your mom is disappointed in you.
