The Washington Post is reporting that the Department of Justice will NOT charge officers in the death of Alton Sterling.

Alton Sterling was shot by officers in Baton Rouge last summer and the footage was caught on camera.

The Washington Post reports that the DOJ will not pursue formal charges against the officers who shot Sterling.

The shooting was the root of violent protests in the city and led to several arrest by local authorities.

We are following this developing story and will await a formal announcement from the Department of Justice.

The Post reports,  "That as of Tuesday afternoon, the Sterling family had yet to be informed by the Justice Department of the decision."

We should note here that the Advocate is reporting that East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has not be notified by the DOJ on a decision in this case and that she is "appalled" to learn of such through the national media.
