Fans of the New Orleans Saints football team of the NFL won't have to wait too much longer to see their favorite team on the field. The Saints open pre-season play against Minnesota on Friday. However, fans who were wanting to observe the team in a more intimate setting will have to change some plans.

The Saints announced yesterday that the August 10th practice that was scheduled to be open to the public has been canceled. To make up for that the team will honor tickets secured for that date to be used at an open practice on August 21st.

By the way, the 10th is a Saturday and the 21st is a Wednesday so that might mean a lot of tickets will be freed up by fans that can't attend a midweek practice. So if you can go and you want to go, that might be your best chance to get into a Saints workout.

The team also announced that practices will begin at 9 am each morning. This is a change of 20 minutes from the 8:40 start time for previous workouts.  The practice will begin inside the indoor facility on Saints campus in Metairie. The workout will then move outdoors, weather permitting. Shuttle bus service between the Saints facility and the Baby Cakes parking lot will begin at 8 am on public practice days.

Free tickets for the Saints public practices are available through the team's website. Remember those tickets are on a first come first served basis with season ticket holders receiving preferential treatment.
