Yesterday's early morning showers and thundershowers were actually quite welcome across most of Acadiana. The rainfall rates weren't so alarming that flooding became an issue. The storms also lost a lot of intensity as they moved across the state so severe weather was only reported in north Louisiana.

Today's forecast does include another chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of those thunderstorms could reach severe limits too. That's why forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center have placed the entire state of Louisiana in the marginal risk zone for severe weather.

A weakening cold front across northern Texas could provide enough of a lift to the atmosphere to help some of the afternoon pop up showers or thunderstorms reach severe limits but that will be more the exception than the rule in today's weather pattern.

For the most part, we'll be facing another hot and humid June day with rain chances of about 40% through the afternoon and early evening hours. Just remember that even though the storms will be widely scattered they can still whip up gusty winds, heavy downpours, and frequent lightning too.

The fact that they can form in a matter of minutes and intensify quickly is the reason you'll want to keep your eyes to the sky and make sure you have your Weather Alert notifications turned on for our free mobile app.
