The former LSU Tiger basketball star and former NBA star, Shaquille O'Neal, was sworn in today as a Lafayette City Marshal.

The honor happened in the presence of Clerk Of Court, Louis Perret. O'Neal was accompanied into the swearing by his longtime friend and  newly-elected City Marshal, Brian Pope.

Pope says that all deputies must be sworn in again under his new leadership. Shaq has been with the city marshal's office for several years, and was actually sworn in originally under the direction of longtime Marshal Nicky Picard.

O'Neal has always had passion for law enforcement and has always been very supportive of the men and women in blue. Heads up if you're in Lafayette Parish and have outstanding warrants. The big fella may soon come knocking---And you're lucky if he even does knock.

Currently, Shaq is part of TNT's team covering the NBA and serves as one of the network's main analysts.
