General Motors has announced a significant recall of more than 484,000 large SUVs. The U.S. automaker is recalling Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC models.

Tuesday, August 16, 2022,  General Motors released details on a national recall of Chevrolet Suburbans and Tahoes, Cadillac Escalades and GMC Yukons (model years 2021 and 2022) because of faulty third-row seat belts. Rivets that hold the mounting brackets on the seat belts may have problems performing in a crash. The seat belts in question are on the third-row seats' left and right sides. In a collision, these seat belts may not properly restrain passengers in those seats and increase the risk of injury. To date, General Motors claims there have been no reported injuries due to the faulty seat belts.

General Motors will notify owners of the recalled vehicles on September 26, 2022. Dealers will inspect vehicles and make all necessary repairs free of charge.
