The remainder of Gov. Edwards statewide tour is being rescheduled for a later date. Gov. Edwards is returning to Baton Rouge this evening where he’ll conduct a Unified Command Group meeting with emergency response officials as the state continues to prepare for the threat of severe weather.
Hurricane Hunter aircraft will fly into the system this afternoon. That should help forecasters get a better handle on where the system will likely track.
The storm system is expected to affect South Louisiana by Friday. The threat of Gusty winds and the potential for flooding rains will exist through the weekend.
Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) officials say they are meeting with state and local emergency personnel to plan for the storm as well as recovery efforts.
