More and more people are downsizing due to sky-high rent and property taxes. Some folks are going to the extreme by taking up residence in very tight quarters. In Southwest Louisiana, the inventory for homes is super low due to back-to-back hurricanes last year. However, before that, the price of homes and rent for apartments in the area were already high.

If rent and mortgages in Lake Charles are $1,000 and up, you'd have to stay in a closet in the big city to make it. The bigger the place, the bigger your bills, right? I guess that's why more and more folks are downsizing. The cost of living is through the roof and people are turning to tiny accommodations in order to ease expenses. Some are taking smaller spaces to another level, though. I don't mind going smaller, but the following homes are pretty extreme.
