Today's severe weather is prompting Lafayette Parish public school officials to dismiss students early today.

According to the school district, all high schools, including David Thibodaux STEM and Lerosen Prep, will dismiss at 11 a.m. The Early College Academy, Milton Elementary/Middle, and all elementary schools except for Alice Boucher, J. Wallace James, Myrtle Place, and Truman, will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. Those four excluded schools will close at 12:15 p.m. All middle schools will close at 12:15 p.m.

In addition, the second session at the Edward J. Sam Accelerated School is canceled. Students who normally would attend the W. D. and Mary Baker Smith Career Center during the second half of the school day will remain at their base schools.

All afternoon activities, including sporting events, extracurricular activities, and after-school care, are canceled.

Buses will run for students who use school system transportation. Parents who drive their kids to school will need to pick up them up at the above listed times.
