What Wines Pair Best With Girl Scout Cookies?
It’s Girl Scout Cookie season and we will soon have boxes and boxes of those delicious cookies all over our houses. Since we are no longer worried about what our New Years Resolutions were we found that these little cookies pair very well with wine. Yes, I said it wine!
As a mom of two young boys, I know how nice it can be to wind down after a long day with a glass of my favorite red wine, and now I can incorporate these cookies into my nightly routine.
Here are the best wine pairings based on each Girl Scout Cookie:
Lemonades
These tasty cookies are a savory and refreshing shortbread cookie that is topped with tangy lemon flavored icing. This cookie will pair well with a delicate wine like a Pinot Grigio, Sweet Riesling, or Sauvignon Blanc.
Peanut Butter Patties/ Tagalongs
This crispy cookie is layered with peanut butter and covered in a chocolate coating. You can pair this cookie with a smooth red wine like a Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Shiraz.
Shortbread/ Trefoils
This traditional shortbread cookie is baked in the shape of the iconic Girl Scout trefoil. This cookie is best paired with Sparkling Champagne or a buttery wine like a Chardonnay.
Thin Mint Cookies
These cookies are probably the most popular and are a staple in my house this time of the year. Thin Mints are a crisp, chocolate cookie that is dipped in a mint chocolate coating. This cookie can be paired with a rich and juicy wine like a Malbec.
Caramel de Lites/ Samoas
These are my personal favorite cookie! These are a crisp cookie with caramel, coconut, and chocolate stripes on top. You can pair this cookie with a Pinot Noir or Chardonnay.
Do-Si-Dos
This cookie is a crunchy oatmeal sandwich cookie filled with peanut butter inside. This cookie is best paired with an intense red wine like a Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon. There is also a rumor that this cookie goes well with a Pinot Noir.
Thanks-A-Lot
The Thanks-A-Lot cookie is best paired with an intense red wine like a Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon.
From what I can tell you can't go wrong with drinking a Pinot Noir while enjoying your Girl Scout Cookies. However, I have a sneaky suspicion that any wine would pair well with these delicious treats.
