Earlier this month, Ariana Grande caused some buzz when UK magazine Attitude implied she said her ex-boyfriend cheated on her. Last night (Aug. 21), the 'Break Free' singer set the record straight.

"People took my quote and made a headline about it. I know what y'all do," Ariana told ET. "They twisted it though ... [It's happened] in the past, I never said my ex."

When the interviewer clarified it wasn't her most recent boyfriend (who is likely Jai Brooks), the singer responded, "It wasn't even an ex really, we were sort of dating for a minute. It wasn't a big deal."

For those who aren't familiar, Attitude quoted Ariana talking about 'Break Your Heart Right Back,' a song off of 'My Everything,' saying: "It’s about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy. Thats’s a very fun concept. Well, originally it was going to be about a boy who cheats with a girl, but then I was like, ‘No, I want it to be about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy’ ... It’s one of my favourites on the album and it’s really funny because I believe it has happened to me. I’m not 100 percent positive, but I’m 99.9 per cent positive."

When speaking with ET, Ariana also admitted she'd rather a guy cheat on her with another guy than with a girl.

"I think it's less offensive," she explained. "I mean, it's great. You know what I mean? I'd be like 'Great for you.' If it was a girl, I'd be like, 'Okay, that kind of sucks.'"
