Arsenio Hall will be returning to late night TV. The 56-year-old, who had a mostly successful run between 1989 and 1994 as host of ‘The Arsenio Hall Show,’ has signed on with CBS Television Distribution to host a syndicated late-night talk show starting in the fall of 2013.

When ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ launched, the late-night landscape was dominated by Johnny Carson and ‘The Tonight Show.’ But with Arsenio’s looser format, highlighted by younger, “hipper” guests and more audience participation (remember the dog pound and “Wuff, Wuff, Wuff!”?) he was able to snag a good chunk of younger viewers from the late night king.

CBS Television hopes those viewers will remember Hall and watch his new show.

Arsenio had a substantial following with his previous late-night show, and that same 18-34 audience is now right in the middle of the late-night core audience of 35-54. Years ago, he transcended time periods and attracted a cross-over audience while bringing a fresh perspective to late night. That same need in the market exists today as when we originally launched,” said CBS Television Distribution President John Nogawski.

We’ve compiled some clips from Hall’s original show, including Bill Clinton’s famous saxophone playing appearance in 1992 which some say helped him win the presidential election. And since Arsenio was known for his colorful suits, check out some of his best looks. We hope he brings back the purple suit.
