Chris Reed

Chris Reed is one of the "local boys." Born and raised in Mamou, Chris Reed has always had a love for South Louisiana, and maybe that explains why he is still here. After high school graduation, and yes he did graduate, Chris chose to pursue a college career in the filed of Science. And then, one day he decided he needed to do something that was different every day he would show up to work. Thus, Chris changed his major to Broadcast Journalism and attended LSU. Upon graduating, he worked part-time in radio and even did an internship at a local TV station. Needless to say, he fell in love with radio and stuck to that trade until he got on full-time in 2002. Chris has been in radio broadcasting since 2002, and doesn't see things changing anytime soon. What makes his job so motivating is simple...Its you the listener. Chris absolutely loves stepping out from behind the mic, and meeting all of the wonderful listeners of his show. After all, his greatest radio moment thus far in his career came when he was able to get a young girl backstage to meet her idols. The young girl had just lost her mom to cancer, and Chris' niece forfeited her pass so that the young girl could go instead. As luck would have it, the artists' tour manager over heard everything that was going on and Chris still got to take is niece backstage. Chris is often asked why radio and not anything else. The answer is simple, he gets to help others that  maybe less fortunate or others that may be going through difficult times. Chris has always wanted to be in a position to help others, and at Hot 107-9 he now is that very position. He recently came back from life changing experience when he attended a radio cares seminar at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis. As Chris would state upon his return, his career had now made a full-circle. While away from the mic, Chris thoroughly enjoys being with his family and friends. Chris has a deep passion for music, and loves listening to and collecting new music. Chris DJs every weekend in clubs, and has a passion seeing others enjoy themselves while he does what he loves. Music is Chris Reed's life, so maybe the career change wasn't such a bad thing after all. Aside from family and music, Chris is passionate about sports. He attends several football and basketball games, and on the weekends he is off, Chris takes advantage of the down time to hit local golf courses. As for television, two words: Reality Television. And yes, that included Swamp People and Pawn Stars. The theory Chris Reed seems to follow is simple, "you don't why things happen, but one day you will know why they do, and you will know why you are where you are." Someone actually told Chris Reed that years ago, and it still lives on today.
