The Cajundome has been approved for $16 million renovations and we have our first look at some of the upgrades.

In addition to recoating the roof, the Cajundome will see more efficient LED lighting that will save close to $40,000. The 100 level seats will also see an upgrade, after natural wear and tear has taken its toll on the seating.

The Cajundome opened 30 years ago in 1985, and since then has seen no major renovations. The lower level seating will be the biggest focus of the renovation and will more than likely be the most dramatic change in the dome—all for the better.

Not only will the new seating be more efficient, but renovations will also help to increase capacity for concerts and sporting events. Bathrooms and concession areas will also be revamped.

Some improvements will begin this year, but for the major renovations the Cajundome will be closed from May-October 2016.
