The fashion world mourns tonight, Oct. 20, as news breaks that acclaimed and celebrated fashion designer, Oscar de la Renta, has died at the age of 82.

CNN was one of the first news outlets to break the news, although no cause of death has been released yet.

A native of the Dominican Republic, de la Renta's illustrious career included designing dresses for then First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in the '60s. Over the years, his name has been synonymous with Hollywood's biggest red carpet awards ceremonies, including the Oscars, the Golden Globes, Grammys and Emmys. De la Renta and his company have also designed wedding gowns for prominent celebrities, most recently for Amal Alamuddin in her wedding to George Clooney.

We send our regards to his family, friends and fans everywhere.
