Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” Wins Best Traditional R&B Performance at 2018 Grammy Awards
Childish Gambino may have got his start in hip-hop but the rapper's recent venture into R&B has earned him his first Grammy.
On Sunday night (Jan. 28) at the 2018 Grammy Awards, Gambino and his song "Redbone" took home the award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. The artist was up against The Baylor Project's "Laugh and Move On," Anthony Hamilton's "What I'm Feelin'," Ledisi's "All the Way" and Mali Music's "All the Way."
With a Grammy now under his belt, Childish Gambino has an extra reason to be feeling good. Earlier this month, the artist signed a new deal with RCA Records in partnership with Los Angeles-based creative agency Wolf + Rothstein.
Thanks to the new deal, the rapper will now be releasing new music sometime this year under the new partnership. Gambino described the new deal as a "necessary change of pace."
Along with new music, the rapper's TV series, Atlanta, is set to premiere its second season in March on FX.
Childish Gambino is also up for Record of the Year and Album of the Year tonight.
