OK, I'll admit it, I haven't visited every food joint in Acadiana...at least not yet. One that was on my list just got scratched off as I had the pleasure to dine at Antlers for the Eat Lafayette campaign, promoting locally owned restaurants and their delicious food. I had seen Antlers for years but hadn't set foot inside until today, and I'm so glad I did. Antlers has been around for nearly 100 years, and the place shows no signs of stopping. It's a combination bar/restaurant/live music venue with great performances on Fridays when downtown Lafayette is kicking, with Downtown Alive, Festival International, Mardi Gras and more.

One of the best reasons to stop by Antlers is to enjoy their plate lunches, which change from day to day, except Tuesday and Wednesday, which feature the delicious smothered or STUFFED pork chop (all caps because the stuffed is so big). It's down-home cooking that you remember when visiting your grandparents, good eating after Sunday church, except it's available all week. Check our their menu on the Antlers website, including their daily specials.

Remember to check out the Eat Lafayette website for great specials going on at over 70 locally owned restaurants through September 2nd, and register at any/all the locations to win a free cruise for two from Travel Machine!

My recommendation, after lunch/dinner, make room for the Bananas Foster Cheesecake, then a nap.
