Drake and his company, OVO Touring, have been slapped with a major lawsuit by a promotion company over canceled concert gigs in Chicago.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Status Entertainment and representatives of its partner company, Show-n-Off Entertainment, filed a suit on Dec. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging they have invested $202,800 over a nearly two-year period to promote two Drake concerts that never happened.

Status Entertainment claims they funded and promoted two shows — one for March 15, 2012 and another for Oct. 18, 2012. Both of them were canceled at the last minute allegedly by Drake and his team. So from November 2012 to April 2012, Status e-mailed executives at OVO Touring to get their monies back but never heard from anyone.

Status Entertainment is now suing for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, fraud and violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. They are seeking $202,800 along with court costs, interest and other fees.

Ironically, Drake just performed in Chicago Thursday night (Dec. 12) for a sold-out crowd at the United Center.

Attorneys for Drake, nor reps for OVO Touring, had any comment on the matter.
