Most guys end up in the doghouse after they get on their wife's bad side. Former IceGator and Lafayette resident Eric Cloutier is going to be sleeping UNDER the doghouse for his latest blunder. While his wife Raquel was in the hospital after having baby #5, Eric and the other kids thought it would be fun if they sold some things at the community garage sale.

One of the items that Eric chose to sell was an old watch box that he didn't think the family needed anymore. Little did he know, it contained Raquel's $23,000 wedding ring.

He didn’t know that before I went to the hospital, I put my ring in that box. I wanted the ring to be in a safe place and out of reach from my 2-year-old twins,

When Cloutier realized that not only her ring, but the box it was in, was missing the day after she returned from the hospital on June 5, the explanation of it's whereabouts was not what she wanted to hear at all.

I go into my husband’s closet, can’t find the box, and then he tells me he sold it. I said, ‘You sold it? What do you mean you sold it?’ I immediately started crying,

Naturally, Raquel is upset; but she is trying to remain optimistic, saying that she hopes the person who bought it (a blonde woman who wasn't even sure she initially even wanted to buy the watch box in the first place) will do the right thing if the ring is found.

I would never, ever keep the ring if I had found it,” Cloutier said. “If you’re honest, you’re honest. Clearly, the ring was in the box by accident.

As far as husband, Eric? He "feels really terrible" about the whole thing.

What would you do if you found a $23,000 ring in a $10 watch box?
