Have Your Cake- The Family Tree Fundraiser

A fundraiser for The Family Tree called 'Have Your Cake' on Sunday, July 22nd from 11:30am-2:00pm at the Cajundome Convention Center and Festival Ballroom.

The Family tree is proud to present the 2nd Annual Have Your Cake and Eat It Too! as a fun filled event that will include a cake design challenge, a cake tasting challenge, and a “Decorating with the Local Faces” activity. We are inviting professional pastry chefs to compete in the Professional Division, bakers without a storefront to compete in our Semi-Professional Division, and people who enjoy baking as a hobby to compete in the Amateur Division.

All participants will be asked to provide a model dummy cake or real cake that will be judged on decoration, the design in relation to the theme, and attention to detail. This year’s theme is “The Cake Bowl: Celebrating our Champions” which reflects the accomplishments of our Louisiana Teams. All participants will also be asked to provide an undecorated sheet cake consisting of 100 pieces to be tasted by both judges and guests. The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges, and they will be recognized during an awards ceremony at the closing of the event. Cakes will be judged on attention to detail, taste and flavor combination, texture, design, and decoration. Children may also participate in the “Cupcake Station” where they can decorate cupcakes with the assistance of parents and volunteers. Awards will be given for the overall winner and the runner up, best interpretation of the theme, best tasting and people’s choice for each division. Purchase tickets in advance for $5.00 or purchase on the day of the event at the door for $7.00. Children ages 3 and under can attend free of charge. All proceeds will benefit the various services and programs of The Family Tree.
