Due to the tragic killing of 32-year-old Heather Heyer and the significant injury inflicted upon others at the White supremacist protest in Charlottesville, Va., Future has canceled the Future HNDRX world tour stops in Virginia. He announced the news through a pair of tweets on Friday afternoon (Aug. 18).

"Out of respect for the tragic events I felt it wasn't rite to perform at this time..please understand my heart mean well VA #FutureHendrix," wrote the platinum-selling rapper in one tweet. "VA is important to me & always will be. I'm comin very soon,my word! Love Forever," he said in another.

Future was supposed to perform in Charlottesville and Virginia Beach, Va., but his decision to cancel those stops is definitely understandable. Last weekend, a protest took place at Charlottesville's Emancipation Park, home of a famous Robert E. Lee statue. Lee was a general in the Confederate army during the Civil War, and recently, people in government have suggested the statue be removed. The White supremacists at the march don't want that to happen.

One of those marching in the protest was James Fields, a 20-year-old who traveled from his home state of Ohio to participate in the march in Charlottesville. Fields is the man responsible for driving his grey Dodge Charger through a group of counter-protesters, including Heyer.

Fields has been arrested and charged with second degree murder. He was denied bail after his first court appearance after the incident.
