Two men are in jail, one is dead, and another is in serious condition after a shooting during a home invasion in Lumberton, SC.

Witnesses tell WMBF that a man, his wife, and their 19-year-old granddaughter were at home when a man knocked on their door asking for water for mechanical problems with his car. Two other men entered the home wearing black clothing, ski masks and gloves.

All three men had guns and demanded money—forcing the homeowner and his wife to the back of the house to open the safe while the suspects attempted to rape their granddaughter.

Then homeowner managed to retrieve a weapon and exchanged gunfire with the suspects. Several gunshots were fired and the man was struck multiple times as the suspects fled the scene in his car.

The man was airlifted to a medical center and is listed in serious condition. Two of the suspects, Brandon Carver Stephens, 28, and Jamar Hawkins, 17, were also airlifted to a separate medical facility for emergency surgery as a result of being shot by the homeowner.

The third suspect, Jamie Lee Faison, 20, was later found dead in the homeowner's stolen vehicle as a result of gunshot wounds during the invasion.

According to police, Faison, Stephens, and Hawkins are all possible persons of interest in similar home invasions currently being investigated.
