The ABCs of Cancer. This is really what cancer is about. The ABCs allow us to see what cancer is like through the thoughts of the children and teenagers at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The best part about it all is that they are so positive. Because St. Jude is a happy place and they make sure to put a smile on every child's face.

H: 'H is for Heart...Our heart is a very mystery (mysterious) thing that is always surprising us'
O: 'O is for Osteosarcoma. The most difficult time of my life. It hurt and made me cry every day. Not I smile and play every day. But I am afraid it might hurt again' (Genesis)
T: 'T is for Topotecan. Topotecan is the chemo that made my tumors in my skull disappear'

The ABCs of Cancer are proudly displayed on one of the prominent walls in the hospital. It was created by the patients to speak their minds. The children pick a letter and have the opportunity to write a thought, poem or anything on their minds. The ABCs are done ever so often or when a patient asks to redo one of the letters.

'Trying to describe the ABCs of Cancer is like trying to explain St. Jude to a person who has never stepped inside the hospital. Once you see it, once you visit,  your heart can never be the same.' I couldn't have said it any better myself.
