UPDATE: The semi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Day event scheduled for Saturday, April 14, is being postponed because of the forecasted rain tomorrow.

LCG officials will notify the public of the rescheduled date once it is determined.

All details for the rescheduled HHWD, including a complete list of the types of electronics and chemicals accepted, will be posted at www.lafayettela.gov. Residents may also call the Environmental Quality Division at 291-5637.

This Saturday (4/14/18) is your chance to clean out your storage shed, garages and homes of multiple items that you no longer want and have them disposed of properly.

From 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. this Saturday you can drop off unwanted items on Lafayette Consolidated Government's Household list at the Cajundome for the Household Hazardous Waste Day.

This Household Hazardous Waste Day is for residents of the city of Lafayette and the unincorporated areas of the parish.

Officials will check identification.

Residents of these areas pay for this day as part of their residential garbage collection. For events in your town you should contact that town hall.

There are many products that shouldn't be put down a storm drain or your sink. The following items WILL be accepted this weekend:

  • Turpentine
  • Paint Thinner & Stripper
  • Staining Products
  • Gasoline
  • Chemical Cleaners
  • Photographic Chemicals
  • Pesticides
  • Herbicides
  • Pool Chemicals

Other items that WILL be accepted:

  • Fluorescent Tubes
  • Alkaline Batteries
  • Televisions
  • CRT Monitors
  • Computer Hardware
  • Computer Accessories
  • Laptops
  • Processors
  • Networking Equipment
  • Circuit Boards (any type)
  • Flat Screen Monitors
  • Printers
  • Fax Machines
  • Toner & Ink Jet Cartridges
  • Digital Cameras & DVR's
  • MP3 & DVD Players
  • Stereos
  • DVD Movies & Video Games
