New Orleans Hosting Mini Burning Man Style Fest Called ‘Ignition Fest’ [VIDEO]

The theme for 'Ignition Fest' will be called 'Chewburntitall' after the New Orleans Mardi Gras crew Chewbacchus.

Yes it will be an all Star Wars theme with a HUGE sculpture of Chewbacca from 'Star Wars.' called the 'Wicker Wookie.' (Shown Below)

It will be held in New Orleans East aka 'The East' on October 15-17th in a beautiful grassy pasture near the high rise on I-10.

According to the 'Ignition Fest web site:

"IGNITION is a 3-day camping festival at a hidden urban oasis in New Orleans East featuring large-scale Fire Art, interactive art installations, sound camps with several of the hottest DJs and performers in New Orleans, and lots more. The theme of this inaugural IGNITION Festival is “CHEWBURNITALL”.

 

Chewbacchus is highly active and supportive in the NOLA Burning Man community. And there are a TON of Burners in Chewbacchus, myself and my wife included. The MechaGator is an example on an early Chewbacchus/NOLA Burner collaboration. We've got an amazing team from Raven, Secret Moonbase and the NOLA Burners putting this festival together (its not just Chewbacchus running the show). We're throwing a camping and arts festival that is open and collaborative. We want individuals to bring their creative vision and talents to share with the community and we're making a proactive effort to encourage and support that. And we are going to burn some big wooden sculptures. The Burning Man ethos helped inspire and inform many elements of what we are doing, of course. The Burning Man ethos helped inspire the way we run the Chewbacchus Parade itself! But IGNITION: CHEWBURNITALL should NOT be misconstrued as a Regional Burn. We're just creating something for our community that is highly Burner Friendly. We all love T-bois and have an amazing time out there. Our goal with IGNITION is to create something where we take things a step further towards big, weird, highly interactive and collaborative camping in our own backyard!
