I had the opportunity to talk with country singer Josh Abbott about his recent trip the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Josh is an amazing songwriter, singer and guitar player, but more than that, he is a wonderful human being with a heart for kids. Especially kids being treated for cancer and other devastating diseases at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Lubbock native said his biggest takeaways were "just how positive they keep it."

"I've been to a lot of hospitals and I've visited some other children's hospitals, and you know there's just all sorts of ways they they're discovering how they can help these kids heal asides from just medicine," he said.

Abbott also raved about the hospital's atmosphere, specifically its cafeteria. Wait, what?

"Everybody in the entire hospital eats in that cafeteria," he said. "A lot of hospitals, some doctors and nurses have their own area to eat so they don't have to eat in the same area as the patients. But St. Jude is the opposite of that. It doesn't matter if you're a janitor, a patient or a doctor. You're all eating in the same area. It creates a community."

When talking about becoming a Partner In Hope for just $20 a month to help St. Jude's, Josh said: "$20 a month is nothing. Everyone listening should be doing that."
